About North Carolina State University, Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering
The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering provides leadership for the development and dissemination of engineering knowledge to promote efficient utilization of biological and agricultural systems with sustainable management and preservation of natural resources. The program offers two four-year undergraduate programs, a graduate program, and a certificate program. The Biological Engineering program is jointly administered by the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) and the College of Engineering (COE) at NC State University. The Department currently has 28 faculty, 19 professional staff, and 11 administrative/technical staff. Current research and extension areas include bioprocess engineering, controlled environments for agriculture, data analytics and integrated modeling, ecological engineering, environmental engineering, precision agriculture and machine systems engineering, and sustainable waste management. The department is currently ranked in the top 10 of undergraduate and graduate programs in biological/agricultural engineering by U.S. News and World Report.
