								<description>Vaughan, Ontario, Canada,  Position Overview The Project Manager &#8211; Transportation Data Management and Road Safety is responsible for managing the City of Vaughan&#8217;s traffic data collection and data management program to help advance data collection, data management, and evaluation of key performance indicators associated with the four pillars of the Move Smart Strategy: road safety, traffic data management, mobility management, and sustainable mobility. Reporting to the Manager of Traffic Services, this position will liaise with project managers, technical disciplines, and external stakeholders and participate in special projects, committees, and working groups to support City-wide projects to coordinate traffic data collection programs and manage traffic data across municipal departments to ensure consistency and accuracy in record keeping and reporting. Responsible for managing and operating the City&#8217;s Traffic Data Management System, contract management of data collection and data management vendors (including Traffic Engineering Software), developing and evaluating key performance indicators and undertaking regular evaluation of the City&#8217;s Road Safety program, managing data collection, and reporting for speed compliance programs including Automated Speed Enforcement. Also leads the development of Annual Road Safety Reports. The position will support the following outcomes: &#8226; Enhanced delivery of accurate, reliable, and consistent traffic data &#8226; Deliver modernization of traffic data management with up-to-date traffic data to support data-driven and evidence-based decision-making &#8226; Manage traffic data to allow for ongoing tracking of the performance of the City&#8217;s transportation system &#8226; Develop key performance indicators and evaluate the road safety and traffic management programs and initiatives. Navigates financial software platforms and uses Power BI for dashboard reporting. &#8226; Support the delivery of an Automated Speed Enforcement Program &#8226; Research and develop cost efficiency model for data and traffic systems management &#8226; Facilitate expansion of traffic data services provision, research on-cost recovery model through additional fee-based traffic data requests &#8226; Undertake annual review and develop an Annual Road Safety report Qualifications and Experience &#8226; Successful completion of a University Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Transportation, Computer Science, Engineering, other related STEM field, and/or approved equivalent combination of education and experience. &#8226; Minimum five (5) years&#8217; experience in transportation planning or engineering, statistical and predictive modelling, road safety, traffic operations, and data management and analytics. &#8226; Knowledge in applying a wide range of analytical techniques in a professional or academic research-based role, including analyzing and modeling large data sets, exploratory data analysis or data mining processes. &#8226; Experience using statistical packages such as R, Python, SQL, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS. &#8226; Knowledge of data, internet and networking technologies, with demonstrated experience using data management and reporting software, such as MS Excel, Oracle, MS SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, Power BI, and Crystal Reports, web services and API&#8217;s. &#8226; Knowledge of statistical concepts in the development of traffic engineering models and in-depth analytics. &#8226; Strengths in spatial data management and analysis using ArcGIS technologies. &#8226; Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modeling skills. &#8226; Experience in mining, collecting and analyzing complex data to draw conclusions and present findings. &#8226; Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems and transportation technology. &#8226; Understanding of advanced data analytical techniques such as data preparation and analysis, data cleaning, extraction and interpretation. &#8226; Proven ability to drive business results using data to provide insights. &#8226; Ability to analyze and resolve technical problems and assess application technology and end-user needs. &#8226; Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership. &#8226; Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.  The Department of Biological Sciences in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science seeks applications from outstanding scientists for an NSERC Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Plant Synthetic Biology. 
 Consistent with the gender equity goals of the Canada Research Chairs Program and the Department of Biological Sciences, this position is targeted to individuals who self-identify as women. The successful candidate will apply molecular and/or genetic engineering approaches to enhance crop value, select or develop new strains/products, and/or address environmental concerns. The ideal candidate will be interested in developing collaborations with local Niagara agricultural industries and taking advantage of existing research and development support through  Brock&#8217;s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute  (CCOVI) and the  Brock&#8211;Niagara Validation, Prototyping, and Manufacturing Institute  (VPMI). There will be opportunities to collaborate with plant biologists in Biological Sciences as well as colleagues in the departments of Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, and elsewhere. Brock University is located a short drive from a cluster of research universities in southern Ontario. 
 The home department of Biological Sciences is a dynamic department within the Faculty of Mathematics and Science (see brocku.ca/mathematics- science/biology/). The department enjoys large and growing undergraduate and graduate student populations as well as active, diverse, and collaborative research faculty. Biological Sciences offers BSc, MSc, and PhD programs in Biological Sciences and in Biotechnology. Cross-appointments to other departments are also possible, including contributing to graduate programs currently being developed in the new  Yousef Haj-Ahmad Department of Engineering . 
 The candidate&#8217;s laboratories are expected to be in the Cairns&#8217; Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex, which includes a 2,500 square foot shared main wet lab with 600 square feet of shared HQP office space. There is an adjacent 2,000 square foot phytotron and an additional 1,000 square feet of ancillary research space that houses plant tissue culture facilities. Additional laboratory space may also be available as needed. Mass spectrometry and next-generation sequencing capabilities are available on campus.
