 DESCRIPTION 
 AET has an immediate opening for an experienced materials/pavement engineer to join our Pavement Group at our St. Paul, Minnesota corporate headquarters location. The successful candidate will work on projects across the Country for clients in the public and private sectors. The position will involve effort that includes but is not limited to: 
 Coordinate and oversee project services in field and laboratory investigations of roads and road materials. 
 Supervise and direct special engineering projects requiring advanced knowledge of pavement design and rehabilitation and related construction materials. 
 Secure significant work and address specific marketing duties and goals for the division and company. 
 In the above and other efforts, the successful applicant will possess the ability to independently perform assignments and the awareness to collaborate with others, as necessary. The compensation package is competitive based on education and experience. 
 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Assist in coaching and training junior staff and perform performance appraisals of Technicians and Engineers.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 
 &#xa0;Experience with advanced concepts in the design&#xa0; &#xa0; &#xa0; &#xa0; &#xa0; &#xa0; &#xa0;construction, and rehabilitation of concrete, bituminous and aggregate surfaced roadways. 
 &#xa0;Experience with lab investigations of pavement-related&#xa0; &#xa0;materials including asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and soils, including stabilized aggregate and soil materials. 
 Experience producing technical reports in pavement design and rehabilitation, with an emphasis on client-facing reports to address concerns and/or alternative concepts. 
 Knowledge of non-destructive pavement investigation methods and data analysis, including falling-weight deflectometer (FWD) testing, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) testing, pavement condition surveys, and laser profilometer testing. 
 Proficiency with day-to-day project productivity software, including Microsoft Office (with an emphasis on Word and Excel). Preferred software proficiencies include experience with pavement-specific applications (e.g., ProVAL, PAVER, and software for FWD/GPR analysis,) and GIS mapping tools (e.g., ArcGIS). 
 Strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues; to cultivate/manage relationships with clients and prospects; to present and market ideas to large groups.

 Summary

Responsible for completing structural analysis and design of complex structures fabricated from structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and wood, and design of complex foundations, including pile- and soil-supported. Also responsible for considerations of environmental loading conditions, including locations with high seismic and/or wind requirements. 
 Responsible for development or coordination of site civil design for a wide range of industrial facilities. 
 Responsible for review of structural shop drawings and data. Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines and designers. 
 Responsible for preparation of construction drawing and specification packages as well as supporting calculation packages. 
 Responsible for QA/QC checking of projects completed by other engineers. 
 
 Education, Skills and Experience &#xa0; 
 
 BSc in civil or structural engineering with minimum of 10 years&#8217; experience in the petrochemical, oil &#38; gas, power generation and/or metallurgical/mineral process industries. MSc a plus. 
 Proficiency with structural engineering and design software (e.g., RISA-3D, STAAD) required. 
 Ability to lead quality management of discipline work processes and deliverables. 
 Ability to develop specifications for and interpret results from geotechnical investigations. 
 Experience in vibration analysis and large rotating equipment foundation design a plus. 
 Knowledge of applicable model codes addressing structural design/engineering (e.g., ACI, IBC, AISC, ANSI, ASCE). 
 Strong communication skills, with ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment. 
 Capable of working directly with clients from proposal development through project execution. 
 Previous consulting experience is strongly preferred. 
 Experience with site civil design, including grading, drainage, and stormwater collection/management.
