Job Summary:

This is advanced, independent engineering work developing and reviewing proposed Regional Water Supply Plan (RWSP) projects, and performing engineering analysis, planning, preliminary design, and cost estimates for Minimum Flows & Levels (MFLs) Prevention & Recovery (P/R) projects.

Job duties include:

• Utilize analytical and modeling tools to support water supply planning efforts and develop minimum flows and levels (MFLs) prevention and recovery (P/R) strategies, including preparation of written documentation and maps, preparation of preliminary design reports including cost estimates, presentation of results to stakeholders and staff, and training and mentoring staff in the use and application of evaluation tools. Provide analytical and engineering support for development of Regional Water Supply Plans (RWSPs) including drafting portions of the RWSPs including methodology, results, and recommendations.
• Perform advanced, independent hydrologic and engineering investigations, review previous investigations, and apply this information to develop MFL P/R strategies and to review RWSP project submittals. Coordinate with diverse groups across the Division and the District to identify and obtain data required for defining the P/R strategies. Work on inter-disciplinary teams with staff members and stakeholders to develop practical and effective P/R strategies for water bodies with established and proposed MFLs.
• Identify water resource constraints based on projected water supply demand. Investigate potential projects to mitigate water use impacts on water resources. Assist in defining the preliminary design and cost of identified projects. Conduct cost-benefit analyses of identified projects.
• Maintain a level of expertise in disciplines relevant to water supply planning and engineering including treatment, pumping and transmission preliminary design, constraint analysis, MFL P/R strategy development, cost estimating, and environmental regulations impacting water resource and supply initiatives.

Additional Details:

Salary Range: $67,371.20 - $87,568.00

Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering and six years engineering water and/or wastewater project engineering or related field; or state of Florida Professional Engineer licensure.
