The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine invites applications for several new tenure-eligible faculty positions on the Academic Investigator (AI) track.  Academic rank and tenure status will depend on qualifications and experience.  Successful applicants will be expected to build and maintain cutting-edge research programs in the broad areas of cell biology and/or developmental biology, and to participate in our graduate and medical school teaching missions. 

Investigators in the Department of Cell Biology are using diverse model systems to address a variety of questions in cell and developmental biology. Current research strengths and interests include membrane trafficking, cytoskeletal dynamics, cell adhesion and motility, cellular homeostasis, mechanotransduction, cell fate specification, morphogenesis and regeneration, developmental genomics, and stem cell models of development and developmental disorders. Candidates working in these and all other areas of cell and developmental biology are encouraged to apply.

Pre- and postdoctoral training is also supported by multiple different NIH T32 training programs.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Ph.D. or terminal degree.
Experience: A minimum of three year postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in cell and/or developmental biology is required. Position requires a history of research publications and demonstrable, strong commitment to education and scholarship.
