The Facilities Engineer will interact with Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen, Procurement and Marketing. The position assists in design of facilities (tank batteries, pipelines, compressors, etc.), installation and ensures safe operation of LPI & LMS facilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under supervision, responsibilities will include but not limited to the following essential functions:
Provides mechanical engineering designs in line with practical API, ASME, and NACE standard designs.
Models gas, oil, and water systems and keeps current for optimization and trouble shooting.
Provides technical specs to Procurement for materials. Assists Procurement in preparing bid packages for construction.
Acts as Project Manager during project design phase. Collaborates with all stakeholders in developing clear scope of work for the project. Prepares AFE with clear scope of work and project justification.
Ensures all documentation required by company standards and DOT standards are collected for document retention, i.e. MTR’s, pressure testing, X-rays.
Oversees and budgets drafting and specialized engineering outside of Laredo necessary to complete assigned projects.
Assists Production Manager on budgeting, economic analysis of systems, and expense tracking of systems and facilities.
Assists Operations with root cause analysis and design for oil, gas and water facility design.
Designs recommendations for corrosion, cathodic, static and metallurgical failures.
Other duties related to this position will be assigned.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of a normal office environment. No environmental hazards are encountered in performance of normal job duties.
Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying 20-pound objects such as files, documents, boxes, etc. Work involves sitting most of the time but may involve standing and walking for brief periods. Travel to the field will periodically be required for facility safety start-ups/walk-through’s, on-site scoping, and any additional project support.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Facility Engineering.
Knowledge of well site production and equipment as well as API, ASME, DOT standards and rules.
Requires self-motivation and the ability to work within company guidelines and timelines while remaining focused on operational and safe design of oil, water and gas facilities.
Experience with pumps, filtration, gas processing, H2S treatment, compression, dehydration and LACTS required.
Past project management experience is required.
Experience with AutoCAD, CADWorx, or other design software drawing skills preferred.
Fluid flow simulation and system analysis (VMGSim, Pipephase, etc.) experience preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a teamwork environment and influence team members.
